Fried Pickle Spears

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle spear first into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with the breading mixture. Ensure each spear is evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickle spears into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried pickles from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with ranch dressing for dipping.
