Fried Mushrooms

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the mushrooms

Clean the button mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth. Remove the stems if desired.

  2. 2

    Marinate in buttermilk

Place the cleaned mushrooms in a bowl and pour buttermilk over them. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the coating

In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Heat the oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).

  5. 5

    Coat the mushrooms

Remove mushrooms from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the mushrooms

Carefully place coated mushrooms in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain and season

Remove fried mushrooms from oil and place on paper towels to drain. While still hot, sprinkle with ranch seasoning mix and hot sauce powder.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the buttermilk fried mushrooms hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
