Goat Balls

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Goat Balls

In a bowl, crumble the goat cheese into small pieces. Form into balls about 1 inch in diameter and place on a baking sheet. Freeze for about 30 minutes to firm up.

  2. 2

    Set up the Breading Station

In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour mixed with salt and pepper in one, beaten eggs in the second, and panko breadcrumbs in the third.

  3. 3

    Bread the Goat Balls

Remove the goat cheese balls from the freezer. Roll each ball in the flour, dip in the egg, and then coat thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs. Place back on the baking sheet.

  4. 4

    Fry the Goat Balls

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add goat cheese balls in batches and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Cranberry-Jalapeno Compote

In a saucepan, combine cranberries, chopped jalapeno, sugar, and vinegar. Cook over medium heat until cranberries burst and mixture thickens, about 10 minutes. Let cool slightly.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried goat balls warm with the cranberry-jalapeno compote and slices of bread.
