Fried Pickles

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dipping Sauce

In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, hot sauce, and dill pickle juice. Adjust seasoning to taste, then refrigerate until ready to serve.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickles

Dip each dill pickle chip first into the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere. Set aside on a plate.

  4. 4

    Fry the Pickles

In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the breaded pickle chips in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with the prepared dipping sauce on the side.
