Fritter Ingredients

Method

Fritter Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until combined. Gradually add this wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  2. 2

    Add the Apples

Gently fold the diced apples into the batter until evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Fritters

Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop batter into the hot oil, frying a few fritters at a time. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Drain and Cool

Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Let them cool slightly.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Caramel and Icing

While the fritters are cooling, prepare a simple caramel sauce and icing if desired. For caramel, melt sugar in a pan until golden brown. For icing, mix powdered sugar with a little milk until smooth.

  7. 7

    Serve

Drizzle the fritters with caramel, icing, and sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
