Method

Wings Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Wing Batter

In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the egg and water together. Dip each wing in the egg mixture then coat with the flour mixture.

  2. 2

    Fry the Wings

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the wings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Red Beans and Rice Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Vegetables

In a pot, sauté onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic until soft. Add the red beans, vegetable broth, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.

  2. 4

    Add Rice and Cook

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Stir in the rice, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed. Remove bay leaf before serving.

Sweetwater Korn Bread Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. 6

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.

  3. 7

    Combine and Bake

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Pour batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
