Salsa

Method

Tortilla Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare Tortillas

Cut the corn tortillas into triangles, making 6-8 pieces from each tortilla.

  2. 2

    Heat Oil

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry Chips

Carefully add a few tortilla triangles to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each batch for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Use a slotted spoon to remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Prepare Ingredients

Dice the ripe tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper (remove seeds for less heat).

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and chopped fresh cilantro.

  3. 7

    Season Salsa

Squeeze the juice of the lime over the mixture and add salt and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  4. 8

    Chill

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
