Tortilla Chips

House-Made Salsa

Method

Tortilla Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to create chip shapes.

  2. 2

    Heat Oil

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry Tortilla Chips

Carefully add a few tortilla wedges to the hot oil (do not overcrowd the pot) and fry them for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

  4. 4

    Drain Chips

Remove the fried chips from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  5. 5

    Season Chips

Sprinkle the hot chips with salt while they are still warm and continue to fry the remaining tortilla wedges.

House-Made Salsa

  1. 6

    Chop Ingredients

Finely chop the tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper (remove seeds for less heat), and fresh cilantro.

  2. 7

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.

  3. 8

    Season Salsa

Add the lime juice and salt to the mixture and stir until well combined.

  4. 9

    Rest Salsa

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend together.
