Cake Preparation

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Bake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Coconut Custard Preparation

Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch.

Cook Mixture
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in shredded coconut and vanilla extract.

Let the custard cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until set.
Frosting Preparation

Beat Cream Cheese and Butter
In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth.

Assemble Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread the coconut custard on top.

Place the second cake layer on top of the custard.
