Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar mixture and beat until fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture

In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, sour cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Mix until well combined and creamy.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 7

    Prepare Baking Pan

Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  3. 8

    Layer Base and Filling

Pour half of the base mixture into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Spoon the cream cheese filling over the base, then pour the remaining base mixture on top, spreading to cover.

  4. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Let cool completely before topping with fresh berries and mint leaves.
