Prepare the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Ensure it is evenly coated.

Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add the chopped onion and pour half of the barbecue sauce over the top. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until the pork is tender and easily shreds.

Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining barbecue sauce.

Assemble the Sandwich
Place a generous amount of the pulled pork on each bun. Top with coleslaw if desired, and serve warm.
