Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a saucepan, add 2 cups of water and bring it to a rolling boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea Leaves and Spices

Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 5 whole black peppercorns, and 3 whole cloves. Stir well.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together.

  4. 4

    Add Sugar

Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the tea mixture, stirring until fully dissolved.

  5. 5

    Add Milk

Pour in 1 cup of milk and increase the heat to medium. Stir the mixture and bring it back to a gentle boil.

  6. 6

    Strain

Once the chai reaches a boil, remove the saucepan from heat. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the tea into cups, discarding the solids.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Masala Chai!
