Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda. Mix well until evenly combined.
- 2
Add Ghee
Add the ghee to the dry ingredients and mix with your fingers until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- 3
Incorporate Milk
Gradually add the milk to the mixture. Knead gently to form a soft dough. The dough should not be sticky. If it is, add a little more flour.
- 4
Rest the Dough
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
- 5
Shape Dough Balls
After resting, divide the dough into small portions and roll them into smooth balls about the size of a marble.
Syrup Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Rose Water
Stir in the rose water and remove the syrup from the heat. Set aside to cool slightly.
Frying
- 8
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the oil or ghee over medium-low heat. To test if the oil is ready, drop a small piece of dough into the oil; it should rise to the surface slowly.
- 9
Fry Dough Balls
Gently add the dough balls to the hot oil, frying them in batches. Fry until they are golden brown, turning them occasionally for even cooking.
- 10
Soak in Syrup
Once golden brown, remove the balls from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately place them in the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
