Method

Preparing the Syrup

  1. 1

    Make the Sugar Syrup

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium flame until the sugar dissolves completely. Bring to a boil for a few minutes and then remove from heat. Add rose water and let it cool.

Making the Gulab Jamun

  1. 2

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda. Add ghee or butter and mix well. Gradually add milk until a soft dough forms. Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  2. 3

    Shape the Balls

After resting, divide the dough into small portions and roll them into smooth balls, about the size of a marble.

  3. 4

    Fry the Gulab Jamun

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the dough balls. Fry until they turn golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking. Remove them and drain on paper towels.

  4. 5

    Soak in Syrup

Place the fried Gulab Jamun into the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Warm

Place 3 pieces of the warm Gulab Jamun on a plate and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
