Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Kokum

Soak the kokum pieces in warm water for about 15 minutes to soften them. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Base

In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add the fenugreek seeds and sauté until they begin to darken. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Aromatics

Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Spice it Up

Add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and sauté for another minute.

  5. 5

    Add Coconut Milk and Fish

Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the fish fillets and the soaked kokum. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the fish is cooked through.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Once the fish is cooked, turn off the heat. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or bread.
