Satay Ingredients

Method

Satay Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the chicken

Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces, about 1 to 2 inches in size.

  2. 2

    Make the marinade

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, coconut milk, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, lime juice, and salt. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.

  3. 3

    Marinate the chicken

Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2-3 hours for better flavor.

  4. 4

    Prepare the skewers

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. If using metal skewers, they are ready to use.

  5. 5

    Assemble the satay

Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.

  6. 6

    Grill the satay

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove the skewers from the grill, let them rest for a couple of minutes, then serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as peanut sauce.
