Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Mix the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the egg and water. Gradually mix the flour into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, finely chopped napa cabbage, grated carrot, chopped cilantro, fried garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Wonton Assembly
- 4
Roll Out the Dough
After the dough has rested, divide it into four portions. Roll out one portion on a floured surface until very thin. Cut into 3-inch squares.
- 5
Fill the Wontons
Place a teaspoon of the pork filling in the center of each square. Moisten the edges of the square with water. Fold the square over to form a triangle, pressing out any air and sealing the edges. Bring the two corners of the triangle together to form a pouch, sealing with a bit of water.
Cooking the Wontons
- 6
Boil or Steam the Wontons
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop in the wontons and cook for about 4-5 minutes until they float to the surface and are cooked through. Alternatively, steam the wontons for about 6-8 minutes.
- 7
Serve
Remove the wontons and let them drain. Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
