1. Soak the Tamarind
In a bowl, soak the dried tamarind pods in 2 cups of warm water for about 30 minutes to soften.
2. Extract Tamarind Pulp
Once softened, remove the seeds and fibers from the tamarind and mash the pulp with the remaining 2 cups of water until well mixed.
3. Strain the Mixture
Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the tamarind mixture into a pitcher, pressing down with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
4. Sweeten the Drink
Add sugar to the tamarind liquid and stir until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
