Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beans

Soak the black beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse before cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork Belly

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the pork belly and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the pot and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same pot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.

  4. 4

    Add Sausage and Spices

Slice the smoked sausage and add it to the pot along with the cumin, paprika, black pepper, and bay leaves. Stir well.

  5. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Return the browned pork belly to the pot. Add the soaked black beans and water. Stir to combine.

  6. 6

    Simmer the Feijoada

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beans are tender and the flavors meld together.

  7. 7

    Season and Serve

Season with salt to taste. Remove the bay leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
