Choco Flan Ingredients

Method

Choco Flan Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 0.5 cups of sugar until it turns golden brown. Quickly pour it into the bottom of a flan mold or round cake pan, swirling to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to harden.

  2. 2

    Make the Chocolate Cake Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.

  4. 4

    Layer the Mixtures

Pour the chocolate cake batter over the hardened caramel in the prepared pan. Then, gently pour the flan mixture over the cake batter, being careful not to disturb the layers.

  5. 5

    Bake the Choco Flan

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pan in a larger baking dish filled with hot water (water bath). Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pan from the water bath and let it cool at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, invert onto a serving plate and drizzle with chocolate sauce and caramel. Top with crushed pistachios.
