Method

Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the grass-fed ground beef, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overwork the meat to keep it tender.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Add the patties to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns in a separate pan or on a grill until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Build Your Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a leaf of lettuce, a cooked patty, a slice of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and any desired condiments like ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
