Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Trim any excess fat from the brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch of fat cap for flavor.

  2. 2

    Make the Dry Rub

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Apply the Dry Rub

Generously apply the dry rub to the entire surface of the brisket, ensuring it's well coated. Let it sit for at least 1 hour at room temperature or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Prepare the Cooking Liquid

In a large bowl, mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar together. Set aside.

  2. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  3. 6

    Cook the Brisket

Place the brisket in a roasting pan, fat side up. Pour the prepared cooking liquid around the brisket, ensuring it doesn't wash off the rub. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.

  4. 7

    Roast the Brisket

Roast in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender. Check the internal temperature; it should reach about 195°F (90°C) for optimal tenderness.

  5. 8

    Rest the Brisket

Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest, covered, for at least 30 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

  6. 9

    Serve

Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with the juices from the pan.
