Biscuit Dough

Method

Biscuit Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuit Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Cut in Butter

Add the unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. The dough should be slightly sticky.

  4. 4

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a thickness of about 1 inch, then cut out biscuits using a round cutter or a glass.

  5. 5

    Bake the Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook the Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 7

    Scramble the Eggs

In a bowl, whisk the eggs with salt and pepper. Pour into the skillet with the cooked sausage and scramble until the eggs are fully cooked, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 8

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the cooked sausage and egg mixture. Stir until the cheese melts and is well incorporated.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Assemble the Biscuit Sandwiches

Once the biscuits are baked, slice them in half. Spoon the sausage and egg mixture onto the bottom half of each biscuit and place the top half back on.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve the biscuit sandwiches warm, optionally with additional cheese or hot sauce on the side.
