Bread Stick Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add it to the dry ingredients along with olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Breadsticks
After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick shape.
Second Rise
Place the breadsticks on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Bake
Bake the breadsticks for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese while hot.
