Preparation Directions

1. Prepare the Caramel

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns into a golden brown syrup. Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

2. Blend the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, whole eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.

3. Bake the Flan

Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish. Place the dish in a larger baking pan and fill the outer pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

4. Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, place a serving plate over the dish, and invert to release the flan.
