Method

Preparation of Custard

1

Prepare the custard mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Soaking the Bread

2

Soak the cinnamon bread

Place the thick-cut cinnamon bread slices into the custard mixture, allowing each slice to soak for about 30 seconds on each side, ensuring they absorb enough of the custard.

Cooking the French Toast

3

Heat the pan

In a large skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium heat.

4

Cook the French toast

Add the soaked bread slices to the skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Add more butter as needed for cooking the second side.

Serving

5

Plate and garnish

Remove the French toast from the skillet and place it on a serving plate. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar to taste before serving.
