Directions
- 1
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that the bacon will cook evenly and the sugar will caramelize properly.
- 2
Prepare Baking Sheet
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. This will allow the fat to drip off the bacon as it cooks.
- 3
Arrange Bacon
Lay the five strips of hickory-smoked bacon on the wire rack in a single layer, making sure the strips do not overlap.
- 4
Mix Toppings
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cracked black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly combined.
- 5
Apply Sugar Mixture
Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the bacon strips, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
- 6
Bake the Bacon
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the sugar is bubbling. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
- 7
Cool and Serve
Once done, remove the bacon from the oven and let it cool on the wire rack for a few minutes. This will allow the sugar to harden slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
