Method
Cake Directions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in Blueberries
Gently fold in the fresh blueberries into the batter.
Bake the Cakes
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cakes
Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Blueberry Sauce Directions
Prepare the Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the fresh blueberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice.
Cook the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the blueberries break down and the sauce thickens.
Cool and Serve
Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before serving alongside the cakes.
