Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Espresso
Brew the espresso coffee and allow it to cool. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.
- 2
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese and sugar together until smooth. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and then fold it into the mascarpone mixture. Add vanilla extract and mix gently.
- 3
Soak the Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso for a few seconds until soaked but not soggy. Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a rectangular dish.
- 4
Layer the Tiramisu
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 5
Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle grated dark chocolate.
