For the Buttermilk Biscuits
Method
For the Buttermilk Biscuits
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add the cold unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Buttermilk
Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently with a fork until just combined; do not overmix.
- 5
Knead the Dough
On a floured surface, turn the dough out and knead gently for about 5-6 times until it comes together. Pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
- 6
Cut the Biscuits
Using a biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Gather the scraps and repeat until all dough is used.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
