Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine urad dal flour and salt. Gradually add water and oil to form a smooth dough. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is pliable.

  2. 2

    Rest the Dough

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Papadum

After resting, divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle using a rolling pin on a floured surface.

  4. 4

    Dry the Papadum

Place the rolled papadum on a clean surface and let them air dry for a few hours or until completely dry.

  5. 5

    Cook the Papadum

To cook, heat oil in a frying pan. Fry the dried papadum one at a time until they puff up and become golden brown. Alternatively, they can be roasted over an open flame.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the papadum hot as a snack or as an accompaniment to your favorite dishes.
