Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with lemon juice, salt, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well to ensure the shrimp are evenly coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

Batter Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Batter

In a separate mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, cumin powder, and garam masala. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter with no lumps.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 4

    Fry the Shrimp

Dip each marinated shrimp into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated. Carefully place them in the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Garnishing

  1. 5

    Serve

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zing.
