Preparation

  1. 1

    Chop the Vegetables

Finely chop the onions, tomatoes, garlic cloves, and ginger.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook Onions

In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 3

    Add Garlic and Ginger

Stir in the chopped garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 4

    Add Tomatoes

Add the chopped tomatoes to the saucepan. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are soft and begin to break down.

  4. 5

    Add Spices

Stir in the cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.

  5. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
