Shrimp Preparation

Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Jumbo Prawns

In a mixing bowl, combine the jumbo prawns with lemon juice, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well until the prawns are evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 20 minutes.

Curried Sauce

  1. 2

    Heat the Coconut Oil

In a large pan, heat 3 tablespoons of coconut oil over medium heat until it is hot but not smoking.

  2. 3

    Sauté the Onions

Add the finely chopped onion to the pan and sauté until they become translucent and start to turn golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

Add Ginger-Garlic Paste and Green Chilies

Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 5

    Incorporate Curry Leaves and Tomato

Add the curry leaves and chopped tomato to the mixture. Cook until the tomato softens and blends well, about 4-5 minutes.

  5. 6

    Spice it Up

Add the coriander powder and garam masala, stirring well to combine all the spices. Cook for an additional minute.

  6. 7

    Add Coconut Milk

Pour in the coconut milk, stirring to combine. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  7. 8

    Cook the Marinated Prawns

Add the marinated jumbo prawns to the sauce, stirring gently to coat them. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through and opaque.

  8. 9

    Finish and Garnish

Season with freshly ground black pepper and stir in the chopped coriander leaves. Remove from heat.
