Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Cooking Naan

  1. 4

    Prepare Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and cook gently for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the chopped parsley and salt to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 5

    Shape the Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6-8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it into a tear shape or a round flatbread, about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 6

    Cook the Naan

Preheat a skillet or tandoor over high heat. Place one naan on the hot skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining dough.

  4. 7

    Brush with Garlic Butter

Immediately after cooking, brush each naan with the prepared garlic butter. Serve warm.
