Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain yogurt, garam masala, ground cumin, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Cut the boneless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Mix well to ensure all chicken pieces are coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for the best flavor.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Oven

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. 4

    Skewering the Chicken

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers.

  3. 5

    Cooking the Chicken

Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice char. If using an oven, place the skewers on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through.

Serving

  1. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Once cooked, remove the chicken tikka from the grill/oven. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
