Biryani Ingredients

Method

Biryani Directions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with ginger, garlic, biryani masala, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain the rice and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Chicken

In a large pot, heat the oil or ghee over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown. Stir in the marinated chicken and green chilies, cooking until the chicken is browned and cooked through (about 10-15 minutes).

  4. 4

    Layer the Biryani

Add the soaked and drained basmati rice over the cooked chicken. Pour in the water, and add fresh coriander and mint leaves. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.

  5. 5

    Fluff and Serve

Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes. Gently fluff the biryani with a fork before serving.

Raitha Directions

  1. 6

    Prepare the Raitha

In a bowl, mix the yogurt, grated cucumber, chopped coriander leaves, salt, and black pepper powder. Stir until well combined.

  2. 7

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the raitha for at least 10 minutes before serving with the biryani.
