    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

  2. 2

    Cook Penne

Add the penne pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Bolognese Sauce

  1. 3

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

  3. 5

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  4. 6

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-6 minutes.

  5. 7

    Combine Ingredients

Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  6. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

    Add Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Combine and Serve

  1. 10

    Mix Pasta with Sauce

Combine the drained penne pasta with the Bolognese sauce in the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly.

  2. 11

    Plate the Dish

Serve the penne Bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
