Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the basil aioli
In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1/4 cup of fresh basil leaves (finely chopped), 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- 2
Assemble the panini
Slice the ciabatta rolls in half. Spread a generous layer of basil aioli on each side. Layer the smoked turkey, provolone cheese, arugula, and oven-roasted tomatoes on the bottom half of each roll.
- 3
Grill the panini
Close the sandwich with the top half of the ciabatta roll. Heat a panini press or skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil or butter. Place the sandwiches in the press or skillet and grill for about 3-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted.
- 4
Serve
Remove the panini from the press or skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
