Rib Preparation

Method

Rib Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the spare ribs for better flavor and tenderness.

  2. 2

    Apply Mustard

Spread a generous layer of yellow mustard over the ribs. This serves as a binder for the rub.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture evenly over the ribs, covering all sides.

BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 6

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-low heat (around 225-250°F).

  2. 7

    Cook the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on the grill bone-side down. Cover and cook for about 3 to 4 hours, maintaining a consistent temperature. Baste with the BBQ sauce every hour.

  3. 8

    Finish with Sauce

In the last 30 minutes of cooking, brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce on the ribs, allowing it to caramelize.

Serving

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

Once the ribs are cooked and tender, remove them from the grill. Let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve uncut or cut into portions as requested.
