Setup
- 1
Prepare the Sterno Stand
Place the sterno holder on a stable, heat-resistant surface to ensure safety while serving food.
- 2
Add the Sterno Fuel
Insert the sterno fuel cans into the designated compartments of the holder, ensuring they are secure and stable.
- 3
Fill the Chafing Dish with Water
Pour 4 cups of water into the bottom pan of the chafing dish. This will create a water bath to keep the food warm.
- 4
Position the Chafing Dish
Place the chafing dish on top of the sterno holder, ensuring it is positioned correctly to receive heat from the fuel cans.
Operation
- 5
Lighting the Sterno Fuel
Using a long lighter or match, carefully ignite the sterno fuel cans to begin heating the water and food.
- 6
Adjusting Heat Levels
Monitor the flame intensity and adjust as necessary by repositioning the fuel cans if needed. Ensure that the heat is sufficient to keep the water simmering.
- 7
Serving the Food
Once the water is heated, place the food containers into the chafing dish. The steam from the hot water will help keep the food warm.
- 8
Safety Precautions
Always keep a safe distance from the open flames and never leave the setup unattended. Have a fire extinguisher nearby for emergencies.
