Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Dissolve the Sugar

Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.

  3. 3

    Add Citric Acid

Stir in 1 teaspoon of citric acid into the mixture while still boiling. This adds a tangy flavor to your drink.

  4. 4

    Remove from Heat

Once the citric acid is added, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for about 15 minutes.

Flavoring

  1. 5

    Add Fresh Lemon Juice

Once the mixture has cooled, add 1 cup of fresh lemon juice to the pot. Stir well to combine.

  2. 6

    Infuse with Mint

Add 1 cup of fresh mint leaves to the mixture. Allow it to steep for 30 minutes for flavor infusion.

  3. 7

    Strain the Mixture

Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture into another container to remove the mint leaves.

  4. 8

    Add Food Coloring (Optional)

If you desire a colorful drink, add 5 drops of food coloring and stir until evenly distributed.

Bottling

  1. 9

    Prepare Bottles

Ensure your drink bottles are clean and sterilized. You can do this by running them through the dishwasher or washing with hot, soapy water.

  2. 10

    Fill the Bottles

Pour the finished drink into the prepared bottles, leaving about an inch of space at the top.

  3. 11

    Seal and Refrigerate

Seal the bottles tightly with caps and refrigerate. The bottled drink can be consumed within a week.
