Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash all the potatoes thoroughly under running water. Peel them if desired, and cut them into long strips, roughly 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and will result in a crispier fry.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This step is crucial to avoid oil splatter.

  3. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potatoes to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 6

    Remove and Drain

Once the fries are cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Seasoning

  1. 7

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with the desired seasoning: Classic, Garlic, or Cajun. Toss gently to ensure even coating.
