Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add oil and mix well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth and firm dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a pan, heat a teaspoon of oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

  2. 4

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, ginger, and green chili to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.

  3. 5

    Mix in Spices

Add boiled potatoes, green peas, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Samosa Assembly and Cooking

  1. 6

    Roll the Dough

Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.

  2. 7

    Form the Samosa

Cut the circle in half. Take one half, form a cone shape by folding it, and seal the edge with water. Fill the cone with the filling and seal the open edge, making sure there are no gaps.

  3. 8

    Fry the Samosas

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Carefully add the samosas into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning occasionally.

  4. 9

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the samosas from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
