Churro Dough

Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat until it comes to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until it forms a ball of dough.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for a few minutes. Then, add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and well combined.

Fry Churros

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Make Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Combine Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until fully coated.

Prepare Chocolate Sauce

  1. 9

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 10

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and add 6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
