Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

Shape the Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Simmer the Sauce
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 20 minutes. Stir in chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Cut the sub rolls in half and place cooked meatballs on the bottom half. Top with marinara sauce, slices of provolone cheese, and a sprinkle of grated Romano cheese.
