Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.

  4. 4

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly to combine.

  6. 6

    Add Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt until just combined.

  7. 7

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

Baking and Serving

  1. 8

    Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  2. 9

    Cool Slightly

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute.

  3. 10

    Serve

Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
