Method

Cooking Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.

  3. 3

    Fluff the Rice

Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.

Cooking Beef

  1. 4

    Prepare the Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, sugar, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Cook the Beef

Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.

Preparing Vegetables

  1. 6

    Sauté Carrots and Zucchini

In the same skillet, add a little more sesame oil if necessary and sauté the julienned carrots and zucchini for about 3-4 minutes until tender but still crisp.

  2. 7

    Prepare Spinach and Bean Sprouts

Blanch the spinach in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water. Sauté the bean sprouts in the same skillet for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.

Assemble the Bibimbap

  1. 8

    Fry the Eggs

In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny side up until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny.

  2. 9

    Plate the Bibimbap

In a serving bowl, place a scoop of rice, top with cooked beef, sautéed vegetables, blanched spinach, and bean sprouts. Place a fried egg on top.

  3. 10

    Add Gochujang and Garnish

Drizzle with gochujang, sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately.
