Method
Meatball Preparation
- 1
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- 2
Shape Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 2.5 cm in diameter. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Heat Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- 4
Cook Meatballs
Add the meatballs to the skillet, cooking for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 5
Sauté Onion and Garlic
In the same skillet that was used for the meatballs, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the finely chopped onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- 6
Add Tomato Sauce
Pour in the tomato sauce, and stir in dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
- 7
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Add the browned meatballs back to the skillet. Cover and let simmer for 10-15 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld.
