Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is frothy, pour it into the mixing bowl with the flour mixture. Add the olive oil and mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking
- 6
Shape the Rolls
Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release air. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Second Rise
Cover the shaped rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- 8
Preheat Oven
While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 9
Add Toppings (Optional)
If desired, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds before baking.
- 10
Bake
Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 11
Cool and Serve
Remove the rolls from the oven, let them cool slightly, then serve warm.
